The Range Rover Sport was the first modern
SUV of its kind when it was launched in 2005. 7 years on and the Sport is still
able to set it self apart, we take a look at how they do it.
The Range Rover Sport meets the modern
family’s needs to a tee. When driven on road it corners precisely and with the
minimum fuss, it provides nothing short of an electric drive. And as we have
all come to expect the off road experience is 1st class. They are
packed with sophisticated systems, such as Terrain response – optimising the
car’s off-road performance depending on the road surface. The brisk on road
drive and its off road capabilities is a seductive mix.
Over the years they have offered improved
fuel consumption and emissions, although these measures are relative and the
car is unlikely to be labelled eco friendly, it doesn’t stop Land rover playing
full out to introduce new eco technology. The 2010 model showcased new e_Terrain
Technologies resulting in better fuel economy and lower C02 emissions. They are
most certainly more efficient, quieter and smoother.
From the outset the interior has been
luxurious to say the least and over the years becoming more and more opulent.
Should
you buy one?
The sport is a glorious way to cover long distances
effortlessly, rapidly and in luxurious comfort. Although the reality is this
car will spend most of its time firmly on tarmac, it still has extraordinary off
road ability, and should you have the opportunity to even once experience the
Sport crawling down a steeper-than-45 degree slope, you cant help but admire it
even more.
